Animals on land, water and farm visit

Children love animals and have many options on a holiday at the Familienhotel Post and the Millstätter See region. As a former K.u.K. fishermen we have always lived very closely with nature and naturally have a special relationship with all the fish, ducks and other animals on the lake, but our heart also beats for the animal world on land.

Lots of animal activity at the lake & mountain

  • Weekly from May to mid-October, farmer Jutta comes to visit the hotel with her small animal zoo or we make a farm visit, visit the animals in the stable, the hen in the barn, bake bread, milk the cow and possibly also have a small tractor ride.  (Farm visit: children in autumn free of charge, costs in spring and summer EUR 7.- per child) come to visit every day and loves to be stroked extensively
  • On the lake: The hit: guided net fishing trips on Lake Millstätter See (suitable for children from the age of 4). As former K.u.K. court fishermen, our family has been fishing for over 200 years and we take you along. Besides, you can watch the fish and try your first catch with the scythe net at Villa Postillion and feed the ducks during a walk along the lakeshore
  • On the mountain: On family hikes on the Millstätter Alp there are many animal inhabitants at many huts, animal adventure hikes with Gabi's little animal farm
  • The popular wild animal park is only 15 minutes away by car
  • Pony rides in May/June and September/October directly at the hotel and additionally at our partner riding stables on the Millstätter high plateau, we will gladly take care of the organisation
  • The neighbour's cat...comes to visit every day and loves to be stroked extensively
